DIANE’S DANCE CENTER
At a time when parents are concerned about their children’s future, a dance school environment can provide a safe place for teaching children self-esteem and critical social skills. By mastering a dance routine and performing on stage in a well organized recital, students build confidence and form friendships that can last a lifetime.
Diane’s Dance Center in Lindenhurst is well known for serving the community and teaching dance. The studio is conveniently located on Montauk Highway in Lindenhurst, three short blocks west of Wellwood Avenue on the corner of South Third Street. Parking is available in front of the studio and on the adjacent side street. Classes run from September to June with special sessions during the summer. At the end of the school year a dance recital is held at a local auditorium where friends and family can see what the students have learned in class. For dancers interested in competition there is Diane’s Dance Center Dance Team. The Dance Team had a great year in regional competitions and this summer became the Platinum Performing Arts National Champions for 2015..
Diane Reynolds, “Miss Diane”, is the owner of Diane’s Dance Center and works with her husband John Reynolds and daughter Christine to provide a family atmosphere at the dance school. Parents can sit in the waiting room and watch their children in class on closed circuit TV, or leave and run errands while classes are in progress. Diane’s Dance Center has two dance rooms and a mature staff of experienced dance teachers, many of whom were taught by Miss Diane herself when they were in dance school. Diane and John Reynolds are active in the community and support activities for the Lindenhurst Chamber of Commerce, OLPH Knights of Columbus, Lindenhurst Rotary Club, Moose Lodge, Kiwanis and others.
Married for 47 years, Diane and John Reynolds have been working together full time since John retired from the telephone company. They have two children: Christine, who teaches Saturday mornings at the studio ,and Jay, who lives in Massachusetts with his wife and 12 year old daughter.
Diane has been teaching dance to children in Lindenhurst since 1974 and is a member of Dance Educators of America and Dance Masters. As a teenager in New Bedford, Massachusetts, Miss Diane would dance in a group and often performed at venues in the Cape Cod area of Massachusetts. John grew up in Lindenhurst and met his future wife while they were both attending school in Cambridge, Massachusetts. After getting married, Diane spent two years following John from post to post while he performed his military service with the Army Security Agency. After the Army years Diane and John settled on Long Island, moving to Lindenhurst in 1972. Diane taught dance for several years before starting her own studio in 1982. Over the years thousands of students have attended Diane’s Dance Center and a number of former students now send their own children to learn dance from Diane and her staff.
