Classes consist of barre and center work where students can learn the fundamentals of dance.  Beginner classes offer instruction in ballet and tap, while intermediate and advanced classes concentrate in ballet, jazz, tap, lyrical or pointe.

Pre-School (3 and 4 year olds):  One hour a week of instruction in ballet and tap dancing.  Children learn creative movement, coordination and rhythmic skills.  At the end of the school year students perform one dance in the recital.

Beginner:  One hour class in ballet and tap for students who have started regular school.  Classes are grouped into Beginner 1 and Beginner 2 levels based on ability.  Students perform two dances in the June dance recital.

Intermediate combination classes:  A one and a half hour a week class in ballet, jazz and tap for 2nd grade students and older.  Students perform three dances in the year end recital.

One Hour Classes in ballet, jazz, tap, lyrical and pointe are offered to intermediate and advanced students based on ability.  Ballet classes consist of barre and center work using Russian and Italian technique.  Jazz combines stretching and strength exercises with center and floor combinations.  Tap classes utilize barre and center combinations to emphasize speed, clarity and rhythm.  Lyrical is an expressive form of ballet and is an interpretive dance form for intermediate and advanced students.  Pointe and Pre-pointe classes are only offered to intermediate and advanced students who are also

enrolled in a ballet class.

PLEASE NOTE:  Class placement is based upon an objective assessment of the students prior training and ability and is made solely by the staff of Diane’s Dance Center.
